"IF THERE WERE NO GOD,
THERE WOULD BE NO ATHEISTS" G.K. Chesterton
I will leave it to you to draw your own conclusions.
Those who have had no experience of God in there lives are likely to draw the conclusion that there is no God, but that is like saying there are no other planets in our solar system because we have not seen them. Those who discovered those planets know they exist, the rest of us have to take there word on it. The same is true of God. He carefully constructed an entire universe right down to the smallest detail, including you. He also authored a book that lets us know he is there and what he requires. The irony is that we accept the word of a mere man as truth, while discounting God's word.
One of my favorite scriptures is found in the book of 2 Corinthians 5: 18-19 All this newness of life is from God, who brought us back to himself through what Christ did. And God has given us the task of reconciling people to him. For God was in Christ, reconciling the world to himself, no longer counting people's sins against them.
Amnesty has been declared for you and me. Think of those who left the United States during the Vietnam War to avoid serving in the military. There came a time when amnesty was declared for them. They did not have to buy back there citizenship, they did not have to serve time in prison. As a matter of fact there was absolutely nothing they could do or say to be reinstated. They were simply free to come back to the United States with all the privileges and rights as the rest of us.
Whether you have never had an experience of God in your life, or you have but have walked away from him, I encourage you to commit your life to Him today, right now. Listen to Him in your heart. He is standing there right now ready and willing to accept you. The words you say are not as important as what is in your heart. Say something along these lines: God in heaven, I know that I am a sinner and I need your help. I believe that Jesus is your son, that he died on the cross for my sins and you raised him from the dead. Jesus right now I open my heart and invite you to come in. Make yourself real to me. Take control of my life. Keep me from evil and make me the person you want me to be. Be my Lord and savior. Amen
I can testify that God is faithful, even when we are not. I became a Christian 36 years ago and he has been in my heart ever since. I am not saying I am perfect, not by a long shot. I used to think I had to be perfect or I would have to spend time in purgatory to make me so. God has made an irrevocable covenant with us through Jesus, he will hold up his end of the agreement how about you.
I have been posting funny "questions to ponder" in this blog. Here is a serious question I want you to ponder: Who do you say Jesus is? Is he a crackpot, a crack head, an egotist, a lunatic, or is he who he claimed to be, the Son of God.
Jesus loves you and so do I.
